One of the best ways to explore new topics is by convening a group of people who know more about them and then paying close attention to what they have to say. That is what edited volumes are all about. For my colleagues who worry that this is an inferior form of publication, I can only say that you do not know what you are missing. It is painstaking and at times also thankless work, but editing a collection of essays is a great way to learn. I am very grateful to the many colleagues who have contributed to these volumes and to those who have joined me on the editorial side of things in particular.
